Melvin Crayton Killed In Shooting Sunday Evening

A man was shot on Sunday, and later died from his injuries.

At approximately 6:47 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 2525 6th Avenue Court for a person shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the victim had been transported to a local hospital in a personal vehicle. 

Officers then responded to the hospital and were advised by medical staff that Melvin Crayton died from an apparent gunshot wound to his leg. 

The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation at this time and Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information to call 423 698-2525

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
