Harold Roger Shell, 82, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at the family residence.  

He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he was a faithful member of the Bethany Sunday School Class. He was a self-employed construction worker; owner of Shell’s Used Cars and was the owner of many apartments and a campground.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed yard sales, fishing and he really enjoyed his breakfasts at Hardees.

Mr. Shell was the son of the late N.C. Shell and Meda Rogers Shell of Athens; and was also preceded in death by his grandson, Jeremy David Gibson; and great-granddaughter, Malorie Rose Shell.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean Shell of Cleveland; children, Roger Shell of Cleveland, Sandra Lovelace and husband, John of Ooltewah, Susan Patterson and husband, Daryl of Cleveland, Sheryl Taylor of Cleveland and Keith Shell and wife, Sharon of Decatur; grandchildren, Misty deLamare and husband, David, Nathan Shell, Krisondra Gibson, Chad Shell and wife, Julia, Tyler Howard, Natoshia Bunger and husband, Stephen, Kayle Mikel, Jessica Lovelace, Paul Hunter Patterson and Tia Patterson; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Shell and wife Juanita of Athens; one sister, Joy Rutherford and husband, Bruce of Sevierville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 3, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood officiating.  A private family interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, in Sunset Memorial Gardens with his grandsons, Paul Patterson, Tyler Howard, Nathan Shell, Chad Shell, Stephen Bunger, and David deLamare serving as pallbearers.  His sons-in-laws, John Lovelace and Daryl Patterson will also serve as pallbearers.  The honorary pallbearers will be his Bethany Sunday School Class.

His family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, August 3 at the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Benevolence Fund at Westwood Baptist Church, 4001 Georgetown Road, NW, Cleveland, TN 37312.
