Warren Vandergriff
Warren David Vandergriff, 63, died on Friday, August 8, 2014 in a local hospital.
Warren was retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years of service as a chief petty officer. He was employed by Lawrence Doster for 10 years, and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association and The Retired Enlisted Association.
Warren was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, had a passion for cooking, loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Warren never met a stranger, having the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone at anytime.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Jackson Vandergriff and Maggie Lee Plemons Vandergriff.
Survivors include his children, Rachel Bowers, Rebecca Vandergriff, Matthew Vandergriff and Sarah (Dylan) Swetmon; grandchildren Brody, AJ, and Maggie Bowers, and Brittain "Scotty" Vandergriff; cousin Carolyn Vandergriff, dog Pippa and his cat Sophie.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Navy honors.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
