House In Collegedale Damaged By Fire

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

A home in the Collegedale area was damaged by fire early Tuesday morning.

The homeowner made a frantic 911 call reporting a house fire at 5234 Loblolly Lane at 12:53 a.m. The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived within minutes reporting a working structure fire with flames showing in the attic area.

With all residents out of the house, firefighters entered the home to find the utility room was full of smoke and there was fire in the attic. They were able to attack the fire quickly and extinguish it in 10 minutes.

Tri-Community VFD Assistant Chief, Dennis Thomason reported the house sustained about $5,000 in damages. No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was at the scene for any potential injuries.

Chief Thomason said, “The fire started in the attic above the utility room due to an electrical problem.”

I can’t remember a time in my life when a University of Tennessee football team has been a five touchdown underdog and this comes at a time when my primary-care physician tells me, “Let’s face it … you are old.” That said, even when I look at myself naked in the bathroom mirror I ain’t as ugly as what I fear will happen in Tuscaloosa this coming Saturday. I can remember the Tide ... (click for more)

Top-ranked and unbeaten Alabama is a 34-point favorite over Tennessee this weekend in Tuscaloosa. That mere fact alone tells you this match up is anything but a typical Tennessee-Alabama game. Have the Vols really fallen that far behind Alabama in a short period of time? I believe they have. Alabama is very good, period. I joked on my radio show this week that the more ... (click for more)
