A Chattanooga man was charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment after police said he hit a woman in the head with an iron to keep her from escaping early Sunday morning.

Police received a disorder call from a woman at an apartment on Bailey Avenue. However, when they arrived, no one answered the door.

It was during this time that the victim said James Blue, 52, struck her with an iron and then threw her to the ground.

While the police were outside, she said Blue choked her, telling her not to say anything so that the police would go away.

The woman was eventually able to call again.

When police arrived again, she was able to make contact.

Police said the woman was bleeding profusely from a head wound and had bruises on her throat.

Blue tried to flee but was caught by police shortly after.

Don't Clog Up The Last Remaining Semi-Unobstructed Route Into Town From North Of The River - And Response

The proposal to turn Hixson Pike in Riverview into a more pedestrian friendly street is more than absurd.   Let's be honest. Wharton Leads CCS Past Eagles For 7-AA Title

The Chattanooga Christian baseball team has played some important games this spring, but chances are good that none have been any more crucial than the one they played at home Tuesday afternoon.
