Quick Action By Hamilton County Clerk Helps Save Life Of Fellow Clerk

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Kathey Blea, deputy clerk at the County Clerk’s Bonny Oaks office, helped save the life of a fellow clerk on Monday morning.

County Clerk Bill Knowles said, “Kathey recognized that a clerk seated near her was having a breathing problem. She asked the ailing worker a quick question, received a nod for help and quickly administered the Heimlich maneuver. I commend Kathey and thank God for her ability to perform the Heimlich in this crisis situation. Her life-saving deed occurred while most of us in the office didn’t realize what was happening.”

Ms. Blea gave credit to her more than 10 years’ experience as a 911 dispatcher prior to joining the clerk’s staff in 2012. She said, “‘I am glad that I was at the right place at the right time.”
