Quick Action By Hamilton County Clerk Helps Save Life Of Fellow Clerk

Kathey Blea, deputy clerk at the County Clerk’s Bonny Oaks office, helped save the life of a fellow clerk on Monday morning.

County Clerk Bill Knowles said, “Kathey recognized that a clerk seated near her was having a breathing problem. She asked the ailing worker a quick question, received a nod for help and quickly administered the Heimlich maneuver. I commend Kathey and thank God for her ability to perform the Heimlich in this crisis situation. Her life-saving deed occurred while most of us in the office didn’t realize what was happening.”

Ms. Blea gave credit to her more than 10 years’ experience as a 911 dispatcher prior to joining the clerk’s staff in 2012. She said, “‘I am glad that I was at the right place at the right time.”



Funeral Will Be Saturday For McCallie Graduate Who Died In Wreck At Athens, Tn.

The funeral will be Saturday for Riley Patrick Scott, a 2010 McCallie School graduate who died in a wreck near Athens, Tn., last Wednesday. He was 24. He was traveling northbound around 1:06 p.m. near mile marker 48 when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree after going into the median. Man Fires Shots At Couple During Pursuit Through East Ridge

East Ridge Police said a man fired four shots at a couple in another vehicle during a pursuit down Ringgold Road. Jonathan Chad Grant, of Cohutta, Ga., is charged with domestic aggravated assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony vandalism, two counts of vandalism and theft of property.
