All vehicle emissions testing centers in Hamilton County will close on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 1 in observance of Labor Day. All stations will resume testing on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at their regular scheduled hours.
“Vehicle emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality,” said Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee Vehicle Inspection program administrated by Envirotest Systems. “Sharing with the community the importance of this program, as well its availability, remains a priority for us.”
Mr.
Taylor says that planning ahead helps keeps waiting to a minimum, and he recommends visiting the testing facilities on Wednesdays and Thursdays, when testing volume is usually lighter, and to avoid testing in the final days of the month.
Envirotest has a contract with the State of Tennessee to test vehicles for the improvement of air quality in Hamilton County, in addition to four Middle Tennessee counties, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to meet the Clean Air Act.
