James Rankin, Sr.
James E. Rankin, Sr., 73, of Chattanooga died suddenly from an accident on August 17, 2014 at his residence.
Jim has been the devoted husband of Peggy for 32 years. He has been an active member of City Church of Chattanooga for 32 years also, serving the Lord as a deacon and elder. Jim enjoyed his retirement and loved going to yard sales, fishing and tinkering with his many lawn mowers. He was happiest surrounded by family, especially grandchildren and church friends. He was retired from U.S. Pipe with 44 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl and Genoma Rankin; brother, Willard Rankin, sister, Faye Tudors, and grandson, Joshua McCrary.
Surviving relatives are his wife, Peggy, sons, James E. (Christine) Rankin, Jr., Gary R. (Jodi) Hancock, Jr.; daughters, Jane R. (Eddie) Clines, Kellye H. (Jerry) Blevins, brother, Billy Rankin, sisters, Edna O’Connor and Louise McKeel; grandchildren, Crystal (Jason) McCullough, Taylor (Bryan) Bowen, Crystal Grochola, Seth Blevins, Dylan Blevins, Michelle Brown and Andrea Brown, great-grandchildren, Bryce, Dylan, Devin, Seth, Kaydence, Olivia, Aliyah, McKenzie, Jordan and Jim’s much-loved cat, “Trouble”; special friends, the Cleckler family; Arnold, Dana, Catherine, Evelyn, Elizabeth and Noah.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at City Church with Dr. Mike Chapman officiating. The interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
