Lightning Strike Causes Fire Damage At Signal Mountain Home

A house on Walden's Ridge took a direct hit of lightning on Saturday afternoon, causing a fire that caused significant damages to a residence on Signal Mountain.

At 1:21 p.m., a 911 call was received from the Hilton residence at 1821 Timesville Road. Walden's Ridge Emergency Services responded and arrived reporting heavy smoke coming from the attic and second floor of the house.

WRES immediately called for a mutual aid response for additional manpower. The Signal Mountain Fire Department responded and the Red Bank Fire Department responded to the WRES district for additional emergencies.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire within 20 minutes. WRES Chief Jimmy Hillis reported no injuries and damages listed at $75,000 to $100,000.
