David R. Gray, a resident of Brentwood, California, died peacefully on May 29, 2014.

He was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he graduated from Red Bank High School. He earned a B.A. in Psychology at Southwestern at Memphis (Rhodes College). He attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville before deciding to enlist in the United States Navy.

He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as lieutenant commander. He then went on to a career with The Pillsbury Company and Bunge Foods as a regional and account manager and director of sales for the Western region. While in the Navy, David developed the wanderlust for touring Asia then Europe to which he traveled extensively and frequently with his wife. His latest passion was visiting the National Parks and spending time at his timeshares in Hawaii and Arizona. Boating on the Delta was another favorite pastime. He fondly recalled his first boat, The Lullaby Lady, on which he spent many relaxing weekends. David loved being on the golf course with his golfing buddies.

David is survived by his loving and caring wife of forty five years, Caroline; his sisters, Betty Ray of Dayton, Tn., and Mary Gray of Soddy Daisy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Robert Gray and a sister Eleanor Hall.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Presbyterian Cemetery in Soddy Daisy, with Pastor Phil Evaul officiating, followed by military honors.
