Members of the Lee University Event Management Class provided extra support to ensure the success of the 2014 Chair-ries Jubilee fundraiser, “Do-over Dynasty.” The event made a little over $28,000.
Chair-ries Jubilee 2014, themed “Do-over Dynasty” and held in April, profited a little over $28,000, according to committee co-chairman Nancy Casson.
“Our goal each year is to raise money to support arts in education and arts activities in our community,” Ms. Casson explained. “Most of this year’s money has now been committed for the 2014-15 school year.”
At present, $20,000 was appropriated to the Arts in Education Committee to use for teacher grants and for artists in the schools; $2,000 was appropriated to the Cleveland Storytellers Guild for the national storyteller they will be bringing into the community and schools this year; and $1,150 was appropriated to the Bradley Concerts Inc.
for two artists they will be making available to the schools.
"We will put a total of $23,150 into our schools and community this year—a sizeable contribution to our arts activities and our commitment to ensuring community development through the arts,” Ms. Casson said.
Among the volunteers who made this year’s fundraiser a success were the Lee University Event Management Class, artists, caterers and sponsors, Ms. Casson reported. “We could not have such a successful event without those who volunteer their time and talents and materials to Chair-ries Jubilee,” she said. “But we also appreciate the community, which supports us by purchasing tickets and bidding on the items donated. Without doubt, this fundraiser is a premiere event in our community that people anticipate each year.”
The Chair-ries Jubilee Committee is a subcommittee of the Allied Arts Council of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce. Plans are already underway for the 2015 fundraiser, set for April 17, 2015. “Mark your calendars now and begin planning either to donate a furniture creation or to attend this event,” Ms Casson said.
