Massingale, Ada Mae (Athens)

Ada Mae Massingale, 84, of Athens,TN, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at her residence. 

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a member of Cambria Baptist Church, where her family members were founders. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She had a love of flowers, gardening, going to the mountains, and going to yard-saling. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Elva Coleman; granddaughter, Natasha Perian; brothers, Carl and John Coleman; sister, Ella Mae Casteel; and sister-in-law, Marie Coleman. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Tom Massingale; daughters, Joan Cabrera and husband David and Janice Higgins and husband Fred, both of Cleveland; brothers, Arnold Lee Coleman and wife Frances, J.L. Coleman, Joe Coleman and wife Edith, Paul Coleman and wife Nancy; sister, Pauline Gonzales; sister-in-law, Myrtle Coleman; grandchildren, Brian Akins and wife Elizabeth and Brittany Brady and husband Jason; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Jacob Akins, Tiffany Widdis and husband Seth, Taylor Bledsoe, Whitney Newman, Kylie Brady and Kyra Brady; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 23, at Cambria Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Larry Coleman officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

Serenity Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
