Davis, Aletha Fern

  • Saturday, August 23, 2014

Aletha Fern Davis was born April 4, 1919 in Dellvale, Ks.

She married Kyle F. Davis on Sept. 10, 1941. She was well-traveled, having followed her husband to most of his various military assignments. She loved her Lord and was dedicated to meeting the needs of her family, often sacrificially. Mrs. Davis was a tireless worker. At different points in time she worked for a telephone company, drove a school bus, helped in church youth ministries, and helped start and operate several Christian schools. In between all these activities, Mrs. Davis was a gracious hostess to all who passed through the doors of her house and remembered peoples’ birthdays with cards. She often sent notes of encouragement or meals to others during their difficult circumstances.

Mrs. Davis died on August 22, 2014.

She is survived by her two sons, Douglas Davis of Chattanooga, and Michael Davis of Dallas, as well as her two daughters, Lynn and Linda Davis, both of Chattanooga. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jonathan Davis of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Julie Davis of Lakeland, Fl.; and Justin Davis of Dallas, Tx.

Visitation will be in Lakewood Baptist Church on Monday, Aug. 25, from 5-8 p.m., and Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The Reverend Ron Gilbert and Dr. David Bragg will conduct the service at 12:30 p.m. in the church.

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
