George Fiske
George Wendell Fiske, 91, died on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Memorial Hospital.
George was a member, deacon and elder of First Christian Church, 650 McCallie Ave., since joining the church in 1953. He was a talented wood turner and a member of Chattanooga Area Woodturners Club. George was also a savvy business man who established and ran his own machine tool distributorship; Fiske Machine Tool Company. Bud was also a veteran of World War II.
George was the son of the late Earle A Fiske, Sr. and Bertha E. Porter of Upton, Ma. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Jane Bell Fiske, a daughter, Faye Anne Rogers, one brother, Earle, Jr. and sisters, Helen Southwood and Evelyn F. Fowler .
George is survived by his wife of 16 years, Alisha Faye Smith Fiske, of Soddy Daisy; four daughters, Wendy Buford Watson, of Blaine, Tn., and B.J. Fiske and her partner, Marsha Beach of Grand Junction, Co., and Jenny (Mark) Lawrence of Lakeland, Tn., daughter, Sandra J. Schreeder (Michael) of Hixson, grandchildren, Anna (Brent) Curvin, Black Mountain, N.C., Taver (Amy) Leedy, Bean Station, Tn., and Sarah (Dennis) Nicely, Maynardville, Tn., and Mithcell Lawrence, Lakeland, Tn., and one great-granddaughter, Gracie Leddy; brother, Ernest P. Fiske (Jermaine Gaudette) Fiske; sister, Marion “Tiny” (Bob) Prentiss of Upton, Ma., and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel.
Graveside services will be on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, at 10 a.m. with military honors
