Virlon Veal
Virlon E. Veal, 73, a lifelong resident of the West Brow Community of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his residence, with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Veal was employed as a machinist with Chattanooga Glass Company for 28 years and was a self-employed carpenter having worked for many years with Erwin Marine Sales & Gold Point Marina until his retirement. He was a member of West Cove Holiness Church, was an avid hunter, loved camping and the outdoors, and landscaping his yard.
Virlon was preceded in death by his parents, E.J. & Ollie Veal, and sisters, Martha Mae Veal & Imery Jean Dabbs.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan Carter Veal; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Jeff Phillips, Lookout Mountain, and Julie and Dan Potter, Springville, Al.; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Julia Veal, Jasper, and Greg and Kathy Veal, Ringgold; grandchildren, Zachary, Caraline, Luke, Mary, Samantha, Payton, Vinson, Ellen, Emilia, William, and Natalie; sister, Evelyn Bowden; brother, Melvin (Recilla) Veal, all of Lookout Mountain; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Brother Aaron Wooten and Brother Darrel Townson officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with nephews serving as pallbearers.
