Estelle Poindexter Waters, 93, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2014 in a local hospice care facility.  

She was born August 25, 1921 in Chattanooga to the late Lamar S. and Ione B. Poindexter.

She was a 1937 graduate of Central High School and was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman.  

Her hobbies included various garden clubs, book clubs, and bridge clubs.  She also enjoyed traveling the world. 

She was a retired executive administrative assistant for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee for many years. During World War II she had worked at the Pentagon. 

Mrs. Waters was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta, Ga.

Her husband, James Marion Waters, two sisters, Elinor Rhoden and Carolyn Fox, and one brother, Herbert Poindexter preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Waters (Wayne) Bradshaw of Monteagle; Mary Ann Waters (Frank) Warlick of Stockbridge, Ga.; one sister, Mary (Hixson) Pugh of Bradenton, Fl.; one brother, David Poindexter of Bay St. Louis, Ms.; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews, Linda (Jim) McKinney, Grady (Mary) Rhoden, and Ed Rhoden all of Chattanooga.  She was also loved by numerous other nieces and nephews in the Poindexter family.  

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. in the North Chapel with Wayne Bradshaw and Reverend Angela Uri officiating.  Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Ga., at 3 p.m. on Saturday. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
