  • Friday, August 29, 2014

It's time again for Morning Pointe of Hixson's fourth annual Senior Idol Talent Show.

The big event showcases all talents from senior citizens across the Chattanooga Area and typically draws a crowd of over 300 to watch the grand finale at the assisted living community.  Local celebrities with industry knowledge judge the event and have included pianist and former symphony member Edie Walker, music teacher, Nina Coppinger, singer/songwriter Michelle Young who has performed at Riverbend and Nina Jones a professional dancer and actress.  Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger is always there to hand out the awards to the winners.

In 2013, local singer Becky Flenniken took first place, dancer Henry Tallent came in second and singer and guitarist Bob Marsh placed third. This year James Howard, local radio personality with Sunny 92.3 will MC the big event.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming tryouts set for Sept. 2 and 3, from 2-4 p.m. at Morning Pointe of Hixson, 5501 Old Hixson Pike. The contest is open to anyone over 62 years of age.

Acts may not exceed three minutes. All equipment, music, etc. must be provided by the act. The best of the best will be chosen for the grand finale.

The big Showcase is set for Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at Morning Pointe of Hixson.

The first place winner will receive $100. Second and third place will receive trophies.
