4 Killed, Another Critical After Truck Goes Off Road And Strikes Man Mowing Yard In Murray County

Four people lost their lives Thursday evening when a truck carrying four teens left the road and hit a man mowing his grass on Old CCC Camp Road in Murray County.  

The truck was driven by River Sosbee, 18, and included passengers Alexis Pinson, 18, Joshua Roberts, 17 and Chelsea Hullender, 18.  Ms. Pinson survived and was airlifted by LifeForce to Erlanger Medical Center.  She is now listed in fair condition.  

The other three teens in the vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene. 

The truck was said to have flipped and rolled at least twice.  During that time it struck Bryan Bartley, 57, from Dalton, who was on a riding lawn mower.  Mr. Bartley was also killed. 

Mr. Sosbee and Mr. Roberts were going to be juniors at Murray County High School.  Ms. Hullender attended North Murray County High School.  

Officials reported that speed was likely a contributing factor in the crash. 


Man Pleads Guilty Under Diversion Statute In Hidden Camera In Restrooms Case

A 21-year-old man charged in a case in which a hidden camera shaped like an ink pen was apparently placed in several local restrooms pleaded guilty under the obstruction statute on Tuesday. Suspcious Fire Damages Vacant House

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire around 4:30 Monday morning at 1911 Huff Place.  Lt. Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said the house was vacant, but appeared to be in the process of being renovated. The dollar loss was estimated at $50,000.
