Lightning Cuts Covenant-Centre Soccer Game Short

Sunday, August 31, 2014
ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Covenant men's soccer team could feel another victory coming on. Unfortunately, lightning in the Atlanta area would take away any chance of the Scots getting their second win in as many days.

With 28:39 left in the second half, the match between Covenant and Centre was called off due to the weather conditions. Covenant held a 1-0 lead at the time. The match is officially a no contest and no statistics will be counted.

For a match to be considered official, 70 minutes must be played.
This one was just 8:39 away from that point.

Snoopy Davidson scored in the third minute, with assists from Ian Meredith and Joel Friesen, as he put the Scots ahead 1-0. Covenant was out-shooting Centre 10-3 overall and 5-0 in shots on goal when the match was called. But all those statistics will be thrown away.

Covenant will take its 1-0 record into next weekend's David Taaffe Invitational on Lookout Mountain. Maryville, Wilmington (Ohio) and Millsaps, along with Covenant, will make up the field. Covenant plays Friday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. against Wilmington after Maryville and Millsaps play at 5 p.m.

Could The Marriage Decision Spark A New Independence Day?

I confess that this year I am having a hard time with the idea of celebrating the 4th of July Independence Day. It is not because I am not thankful to God for what was done on that day, what it represents, and the blessings I’ve experienced that flow from it. On the other hand, I want to think that maybe this year’s celebration will mark a period in our history in which a new movement ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Dr. Tydings Is A Winner

One week from tomorrow the most important educator in the future of our community will start work as the new president of Chattanooga State. While I am normally cynical of beard-strokers and foundation-hungry dreamers who have little or no concept of the real world, I am convinced Flora Tydings will become the best thing to happen in our community in years. A grandmother with ... (click for more)
