Young Republicans Get "Curtised" - And Response

Wednesday, August 6, 2014

The brew ha ha over the Pachyderm Club kicking out Curtis Adams is hilarious. First of all, I remember when Kenny Smith ran for school board the first time and guess who brought the Democrat to the club…Curtis Adams. He introduced him around to everyone.  Back then some of us real conservatives always knew Curtis was a closet Democrat.  After all, he voted for several tax increases and loved, absolutely loved, to spend taxpayer money.

So…it is no surprise that he is supporting Democrats because he is just what he always was…a Democrat…and the Republican hierarchy always knew it.  To throw him out now, after all those tax increase votes and his questionable activity over the years, is ridiculous. You knew what you were getting when Curtis “changed parties” to get elected.  He had to run as a Republican but he never changed his spots and nobody cared because it was another Republican “notch” in the electoral gun.  One more for the list of Democrats that “switched” parties but not ideology.

Now the young whippersnappers in the Young Republicans just got “Curtised.”  He is making them look like fools and has tricked them into making Kenny Smith a martyr, which will help him get elected.  These imbeciles couldn’t get the jump on old Curtis in a million years.

Everyone knows that Curtis would hit his grandma to get his name in the paper so these Pachyderm people made it possible without any family violence. Kenny Smith is going to send you a thank you note.

This isn't the only dumb thing Republicans have been involved in lately.  Ambushing Fred Skillern and ostracizing Rhonda Thurman are two other dumb moves that come to mind.

Curtis, keep up the good work.  It was pretty dull without your antics in local politics.  I think we need to elect you to something just for comic relief.  After all, you have some pretty easy pickins down at the Republican Party.  You ought to be in the circus.

* * *

I suppose Mr. Price is referring to a brouhaha at the Pachyderm Club. If that's the case, then, yes, one of those is taking place. In the process, the Pachyderm Club embodies the myopic mindset that has taken hold of national and state politics. Is it striving to be a cabal within a clique?

In giving your letter a second look, I see that once again, you seem to revel in throwing barbs at others. Invoking decreased relatives and cynically proclaiming someone's martyrdom is not helpful whether by a true liberal or "true conservative" as you describe yourself.

As a younger voter myself, I find the local "kiss the ring" mentality to be a relic of the past and one that does little to explain why I should vote -R- or -D-. "True Conservatism" has been shaped, reshaped, and re-imagined so much in the last 10 years, I don't know what that even means today. All the Pachyderm Club does is tell me I'm not cranky enough to join.

In giving your letter a third look, perhaps it is just a contrived attempt to mention the Hamilton County District 1 commission race.

Thankful For The Relationship Between McCallie And Ridgedale Community

I would like to thank all the leadership at McCallie for allowing us to use the ROC for holding the Ridgedale annual Christmas party. Never Has So Many Owed So Much To So Few

In the last two weeks our area has faced unprecedented tragedy, from the school bus accident to our local fires to the tornadoes and fires to our northeast. Wilson, Hurricanes Pull Out 58-55 Win Against Baylor

From deep in the left corner, East Hamilton guard Vandrele Wilson, a 5-foot-7 junior, let fly with a 3-point shot, came back to the ground and stood concrete-still while watching the basketball hit nothing but net. As soon as the ball left his hand, Wilson was sure it was golden. The clutch 3-pointer gave East Hamilton a 56-55 lead over Baylor with 15 seconds remaining ... (click for more)
