Sculpture Fields At Montague Park Hosts Event On Board A Vintage Train

  • Sunday, September 14, 2014

Catch the Tennessee Valley Museum Train on Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at Sculpture Fields at Montague Park, 1100 E. 16th St., for an evening of entertainment, cocktails, a tour of the upcoming international Sculpture Fields, a seated dinner aboard the train, games and prizes.

Tickets to this event are $175 per person ($350 per couple), which includes cocktails at the depot home of Pamela and John Henry, entertainment by a stand-up comedian, an on-board Ambassador's Challenge and scenic tour of Chattanooga, while enjoying an elegant Italian-themed dinner with cocktails served aboard the train.

“The event will raise money and awareness for the 33-acre international and extraordinarily unique sculpture park with larger-than-life monumental art,” said Cathy Clifford, executive director of the Sculpture Fields at Montague Park.

The event has limited seating, so reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis: 423-266-7288 or

“Imagine a 33-acre outdoor museum in the heart of Chattanooga’s Southside arts district filled with 75 monumental works of sculpture from all over the world,” said internationally known sculptor John Henry.

“The Sculpture Fields is not a field of dreams.”

Work has already begun, and 14 world-class sculptures currently dominate the north end of the park with more to come when the landscaping and walkways are complete.

“This isn’t about another art park; this is about culture, tourism, recreation, education and economic development with a Chattanooga city park contributing to the revitalization of the Southside,” said Henry. “Sculpture parks in America draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to their home cities. Chattanooga’s reputation will be enhanced.”

Henry cited some of Chattanooga’s cultural accolades:

The Wall Street Journal featured Chattanooga as a U.S. city that is benefitting from the expansion of arts and cultural venues. U.S. News & World Report cited Chattanooga as one of only six cities worldwide that work at creating great urban experiences. American Style Magazine readers ranked Chattanooga as the #2 Mid-Sized City Arts Destination.
