Chattanooga Police said 19-year-old DeAngelo Demarcus Dews fired numerous shots toward a man he had argued with as well as another man and his two children and at a store employee at the Bi-Lo in Brainerd on Friday night.

Desmond Gearing, 27, was shot in the abdomen.

Dews has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.

At approximately 8:49 p.m., the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot wound at 4011 Brainerd Road.

Officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Gearing was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

Police said it was learned that Dews had used the ATM inside the store and he left his receipt behind. On a video, he can be seen using the ATM and then arguing with Gearing.

A video also shows Dews leave the store just seconds before Gearing goes outside. Then it shows Dews firing at Gearing as him as well as at a store employee and a white male with two children with him.

A police report says, "The video shows Mr. Dews return to the front of the store and fire numerous shots toward Mr. Gearing and the unidentified white male with two children and the store employee."
