Sean Elliott shows off his Medalist Award at Coastal Georgia
Dalton State’s Sean Elliott blazed the Retreat Course at Sea Island Golf Club Tuesday on his way to medalist honors in the Coastal Georgia Invitational.
The sophomore from Westfield, NJ fired a 6-under-par 72 to go with his Monday 73. Elliott’s two-day 139 put him one stroke better than Coastal Georgia’s Alistaire Tibcombe (70-70 – 140).
“I’m very pleased with Sean,” Dalton State coach Ben Rickett said. “He’s worked hard over the last eight months both in the classroom and in his golf game.”
Dalton State moved up a couple of notches.
The Roadrunners went from seven to fifth (305-295 – 600). Defending NAIA national champions Coastal Georgia (287-286 – 573) won the event by 11 strokes over Warner University (289-295 – 584) of Lake Wales, FL and Thomas University (293-291 – 584) of Thomasville, GA.
USC Beaufort finished fourth, just three strokes ahead of Dalton State.
“We bounced back today,” said Rickett. “There is still a long way to go, but we know where we stand in regards to other teams in our conference.”
Austin Hughes (75-76 – 151) had the second best Roadrunner score. He was tied for 24th. Max Bruck (78-76 – 154) finished the tournament as 24th. Levi Nix shot 79 and 76 for 155. Dalton Johnson’s score didn’t score, but his game improved on the second day (80-77 – 157).
