Davis Reeves of Soddy Daisy will appear in the bright lights of Broadway on Saturday as part of the National Down Syndrome Society's annual Times Square Video presentation. The featured photographs highlight children, teens and adults with Down syndrome working, playing and learning alongside friends and family. These collective images promote the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome, which is the NDSS mission.
The photo of Davis, who has Down syndrome, was selected from over 2,000 entries in the NDSS worldwide call for photos.
Over 220 photographs will appear in the video, which will be shown in the heart of Times Square. Davis is pictured with his baby brother Thomas.
“I was filled with pride and joy to discover that a picture of my babies was selected to represent the NDSS values of inclusion and acceptance and to be shared worldwide from Times Square,” Davis’s mom Kari Reeves says. “As parents, we all strive for our kids to be happy and accepted by others, whether our children have Down syndrome, have other diagnoses, or are typically developing. We are in this together to create a better present and a better future for our children. I am happy to be a part of this movement and to show the world these happy and adorable brothers.”
The Times Square Video presentation kicks off Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. The video presentation will be followed by the 20th Annual Flagship Buddy Walk in New York City. This year, Buddy Walk events will be held in more than 250 cities across the country, as well as select international locations, in and around October.
