Woman Shot And Killed In Catoosa County Residence

A woman is dead after a shooting in Catoosa County.

According to Sheriff Gary Sisk, around noon on Friday, sheriff’s deputies and investigators responded to 227 Smoketree Circle, Ringgold, in reference to a subject being shot. 

Upon arrival, officers located two females and one male at the residence. One of the women was observed lying at the bottom of the stairs inside the residence.  Emergency Services personnel checked the female who was lying at the bottom of the stairs and determined her to be deceased. 

In speaking with the other woman, officers were advised that she is an on-again, off-again girlfriend to the homeowner who was at work at the time of the incident. She said she was inside the residence when she heard a noise in the residence. She told officers that she called out; however, no one answered. She said she heard the noise again and immediately ran to the bedroom where she retrieved a firearm. She said she observed a darkened shadow in the area of the hallway who appeared to have something in her hand and she then discharged her firearm. 

Investigators are continuing their preliminary investigation in reference to the relationships of everyone involved in the incident.  No identities will be released at this time.
