Dancy, Shirley Lynch (South Pittsburg)

Shirley Lynch Dancy, 77, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 following a brief illness.

The daughter of the late William Henry and Edith Marie Overturf Lynch, she was a member of Victory Baptist Church and worked for many years as a seamstress and upholsterer. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dale Ann Webb, brother, Charles Lynch, and sister, Minnie Marshall.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dan Dancy; children, Danny (Shirley) Dancy, Debbie (Phil) Smith and David (Pam) Dancy all of South Pittsburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, WH “Jack” Lynch of Kimball; sisters, Jane Griffin of Kimball and Becky Collins of Jasper; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Central Time on Friday, Sept. 5, with Reverend Dennis Eggert officiating.  Interment will follow at Lynch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 5-9 p.m. CT at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Marion County Relay For Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society.
