The Chattanooga Mocs continued its strong play at the USC Upstate Fall Classic in Spartanburg, S.C., today.  Three advanced to Sunday’s main draw finals in singles action, while two UTC tandems are in main draw championships in doubles.

It will be an all-Chattanooga final in the Green singles draw tomorrow.  Junior Kayla Jones, the top seed in the bracket, cruised into the championship after dropping just five games in two matches today.  She defeated Presbyterian’s Claire-Mitchell Andrews (6-1, 6-1) in the quarterfinals and ETSU’s Reginka Nxchytailova (6-2, 6-1) in the semis.

Jones will face freshman teammate Samantha Caswell on Sunday.  Caswell started her day with a big upset over Presbyterian’s second-seeded Greer Ransom (7-5, 6-1).  She followed that with a (6-2, 6-2) win over Upstate’s Anna Zoske.

Junior Katie Polk is still alive in the White backdraw.  She scored wins over Presbyterian’s Carolina de Loach (6-1, 2-6, 6-2) and Wofford’s Taylor Carlson (6-2, 6-2).  She faces Upstate’s Nona Ruppert in Sunday’s consolation finals.

Fourth-seeded junior Kelsey Coots is in the finals of the Black bracket after a pair of victories today.  She opened with a (6-0, 6-3) win over Wofford’s Samantha Russell.  She advanced to the finals with a (6-0, 6-2) win against ETSU’s Jayde Viccars.  Coots takes on UNC Asheville’s Emily McNall tomorrow.

The Mocs went 3-0 in doubles and are represented in the finals of both the Green and White draws.  Top-seeded Jones and Caswell scored an 8-5 win over UNC Ashville’s No. 4 seed Christine Boissevain and Amryn Soldier.

Coots and senior Kaylene Chadwell had a big win in the semis of the White bracket.  They knocked off No. 1 seed McNall and Lauren Brooker from UNCA 8-4.  Senior Claire Mulyadi and junior Alison Storie will compete in the finals of Sunday’s White consolations.  They posted an 8-4 win over Gardner-Webb’s Stine Magnusson and Mary Walker Mixon.
