Fireside at Greenway Begins Oct.

Outdoor Chattanooga will our popular Fireside at Greenway series, beginning Thurs., Oct. 2, 7 to 9 p.m. at the City of Chattanooga's Greenway Farm, 5051 Gann Store Rd., in Hixson. Bring kids, blankets and something to roast over the fire. This week's entertainment: Lon Eldridge playing blues and swing on the acoustic guitar. Next Fireside: Thurs., Oct. 9 with Jazzanooga.
Open Canoeing - Before the Fireside Program
Rent a canoe on Fireside evenings, from 6 to 7 p.m., for a family paddle on N. Chickamauga Creek. Cost is $20 per canoe. No reservations are necessary. Just show up and paddle. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide all equipment. Infants and small toddlers need to bring their own life jackets.

SAVE THE DATE! Electric Bike Eco-Tour Oct. 25 & 26
Try bicycle touring with a twist of the throttle! Outdoor Chattanooga will partner with Electric Bike Specialists to host an electric bicycle eco-tour to Mountain Cove Farms on Sat. & Sun., Oct. 25 & 26. Take a very leisurely ride from downtown through the lovely countryside of North GA, dine at the Farm's restaurant, camp overnight, then enjoy a camp breakfast before bicycling back to town. Cost is $85 per person and includes breakfast and lunch, camping accommodations, van support, guides and Motiv Sleek 6-speed electric bicycles.

Rapid Learning at Warner Park Sept. 24
Outdoor Chattanooga's Rapid Learning Whitewater Program will host one last kayak skills practice session at Warner Park Pool, Wed., Sept. 24, before taking a fall hiatus. Come paddle with us at 6 or 7 p.m. Adults and kids ages 8 and older can learn the skills they need to paddle area whitewater (and flat water) streams. All equipment and instruction provided. Kayak Polo: One Last Session Sept. 25
Outdoor Chattanooga will host one last non-contact
kayak polo games at the Warner Park pool, 1101 McCallie Ave., on Thursday, Sept. 25, from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No experience is necessary, but you do need to know how to "wet exit." The games are free and all equipment will be provided.
Peace Corps Public Information Session Sept. 24
A representative of the
Peace Corps will be at Outdoor Chattanooga on
Wed., Sept. 24, from
5:30 - 6:30 p.m., to share information about joining the organization as an international volunteer. Regional recruiter Maggie Flinn will share tips for the application process. Returned volunteers will be at the meeting to share their experiences and talk about life after the Peace Corps. All interested members of the public are welcome.

Skyhoundz World Disc Dog Championships Sept. 27 & 28
Ironman may have the toughest athletes on two legs, but the
Skyhoundz World Disc Dog Championships, happening on Sat. & Sun., Sept. 27 & 28, in Coolidge Park, boasts the world's impressive athletes of the four legged variety. A week of trials culminates in a weekend freestyle competition for dogs little and small. And the entire event is free and open to the public. Pack a picnic and come watch!
Tennessee River Rescue Oct. 4
Chattanooga's biggest community cleanup happens on Sat., Oct. 4 with the Tennessee River Rescue. There is still time to volunteer or sponsor in one of a dozen work zones all over the TN River watershed. A particular need is boats, motor or paddle powered.

UTC Intrasquad Rowing Regatta Sept. 27
The University of TN at Chattanooga will host their annual
Intrasquad Rowing Regatta on Sat., Sept. 27, launching from the UTC rowing barges on the TN Riverpark. If you're on the river, keep your eyes peeled for crews.
Ironkids Chattanooga Fun Run Sept. 27
Kids ages 3-15 can experience the excitement of Ironman on a 1/4, 1/2 or full mile course at the
Ironkids Fun Run, starting at
9 a.m. on Sat., Sept. 27, at Ross' Landing. Younger kids generally run the short courses, while kids nine and older tackle the full mile. But superkids may seed themselves wherever they wish. Cost is $15. Young runners may register online or in person
on Thurs. and
Fri., Sept. 25 & 26, or early Sat. a.m. before the race. To learn more,

Over the Edge Oct. 1 and 2
Want to conquer your fear of heights while rappelling 250 ft. from the ground of Chattanooga's downtown? Come to Center Park, 728 Market St., Oct. 1 and 2 to experience Over the Edge. No rappelling experience is necessary to participate! For more information, contact Adrian at (423) 892-8323.
RiverRocks Chattanooga Begins Oct. 1
The annual RiverRocks Chattanooga adventure sports festival will fill up every weekend in Oct. with outdoor adventure sports, music and anything else fun that they can think to do outdoors. Check out the festival website for a month's worth of fun.
Raft for the Cure Oct. 4
Wildwater Ocoee will partner with the Susan G. Komen Foundation for their annual Raft for the Cure on Sat., Oct. 4 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception honoring breast cancer survivors at 2 p.m. For reservations, go to Wildwater Ocoee's website.
Nooga Glo 5K 2014 Oct. 4
The
Nooga Glo 5K will happen on Sat., Oct. 4, 7:45 a.m., beside the Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View Ave. All proceeds benefit Chattanooga's PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) chapter and the new upcoming Nooga Diversity Center.
