Each year the Constitution of the United states is recognized as the founding document of the nation. All over the country, schools have special programs, citizens ring bells and the Preamble of the Constitution is read on the steps of many courthouses.

The Daughters of the American Revolution work through the year, but focus especially on the third week in September for Americans to know about their beginnings. The five chapters of the DAR (Chickamauga, Nancy Ward, Judge David Campbell, Chief John Ross and Moccasin Bend) join with the leaders of the community to issue a proclamation of Constitution Week. Under the guidance of the Regents Council Director Pam McConnell, of the Nancy Ward chapter, these documents were presented to the manger of the local History and Genealogy Department, Mary Helms, to be displayed at the main library.

The DAR is an organization of descendants who fought or rendered aid in the Revolutionary War. Any woman who has bloodlines that lead to a Patriot is eligible. If interested go to www.dar.org.
