UTC Men's Tennis Fall Schedule Announced

Thursday, September 4, 2014

Highlighted by the UTC Steve Bara Fall Classic, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s tennis head coach Carlos Garcia announced the Mocs’ 2014 fall schedule today.  UTC will take part in four tournaments in the fall as it prepares for another tough Southern Conference spring schedule.

Chattanooga opens with a trip to the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic in Macon, Ga.  This three-day event runs Sept. 12-14 and features a number of strong regional teams.

Chattanooga then hosts the prestigious UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic at the Champions Club in Chattanooga.  This three-day tournament is Oct. 3-5 at one of the area’s top competition venues.

Chattanooga continues a busy October with a trip to the ITA/Ohio Valley Regional on Oct. 16-19 in Nashville, Tenn.  The final event of the year is the Georgia Southern Fall Invitational on Oct. 24-26 in Statesboro, Ga.

“I think this is a very good schedule for us,” stated Coach Garcia.  “We’ve got a good mix of returners and newcomers, and this level of competition is good for both groups.”

Chattanooga returns four of its top six players who posted a 7-14 record in 2014.  Six total letter winners are back, but five new faces will push for time in the lineup.  Look for the 2015 spring schedule to be released following the conclusion of fall play.

Stormwater Fiasco And East Ridge Camping

When did the Chattanooga City Council get replaced by members of the East Ridge City Council? I don't recall a time in Chattanooga where they've voted to shoot the city in the foot more than they have lately.  If this goes through despite the environmental impact warnings and then Camp Jordan has increased flooding after spending millions on sports ball fields, ... Roy Exum: The Saturday Funnies

The best story this Thanksgiving comes from the New Jersey Turnpike where a very attractive young woman ran out of gas last month. Kate McClure had little cash on her as she began to walk towards the closest gas station in the pitch-black dark. But she didn’t get far before a homeless man, his beard ragged and clothes filthy, told her this was a bad place for her to be.  ... (click for more)
