27th Annual Ruby Hurley Image Awards “All In For Justice!” Is Oct. 9

  • Saturday, September 6, 2014

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County NAACP will host the 27th annual Ruby Hurley Image Awards on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Stratton Hall, at 3146 Broad Street Chattanooga, Tn. 37408.

The Image Awards is an occasion when the NAACP and community celebrate, salute, applaud, and highlight the efforts of some of our regions' worthiest individuals in the areas of education, humanitarianism, and dedication to service. Also of special importance on this year, the president of the Tennessee NAACP State Conference Ms. Gloria Sweetlove will be the featured speaker of the occasion as well as  special performances presented by our local ACT-SO students.

Organizers said, "This has been a banner year in which the NAACP has embraced a Moral Call to Action. Within the last year we have commemorated the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington; the 60th anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board decision; the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and will soon reflect upon the 1965 Voting Rights Act. As we have come full circle as an organization in remembering these feats, we recognize that we are needed now like never before, and we will continue to fulfill  our mission which is to stand firm for economic, educational, social, political and criminal justice. We need your help in fulfilling this mission because we can settle for nothing less, than “Higher Ground,” and for this reason we as a local, state, and national organization are All In For Justice!"
