Besides the annual Bicycle Races for the Kidz, a full program of races took to the track at Boyd's Speedway Saturday night. Former (1999) Southern All-Star Champion Jamie Perry of Ringgold and current/reigning S.A.S Champ Riley Hickman of Ooltewah duked it out in the 30 lap "A" Main feature.

With the re-draw jumbling up the Quik-6 qualifiers, Perry found himself switched from the outside front row to the pole position, leaving fast qualifier Hickman to mix it up one row back Dunlap's Andy Miller.
Lucas Burns made it a GA vs. Alabama front row, but it was all Perry as the # P4 "Cotton's Service Center, Powell & Swanson, Mark Heatherly Construction, T1MCO Graphics" sponsored CVR racer jumped out front quickly. Hickman had to maneuver through a couple cars on the opening lap, but settled in quickly to second. The "Hustler" stayed with Perry for the complete 30-laps but could never draw along side for a challenge. Miller would finish third ahead of Justin Litchford and Johnny Cloer Jr.
Jeff Smith of Villanow, Ga., picked up the Crate Late Model 25-lap feature. Smith in his #17s "Josh Roberts Trucking, Soymet Fuels, Bilstein Shocks, Dub's, Hill Motorsports" Racetek powered GM Powered 604 led start to finish after setting fast time and re-drawing the #1 pill.

Second fastest qualifier Ricky Smith was caught up in an opening crash that took himself, Josh Walker and track owner/operator David Duplissey from contention.

Booger Brooks of Chattanooga won both A-Hobby features with his younger brother Dallas winning the B-Hobby race. Birchwood's Koty Campbell won the MFP Pony/FWD feature over Matt Leonard and E.J. Bailey.

Next Saturday night, TV News Anchors/Reporters take to the track for Race #2 of the Media Challenge Gran Prix. All local television news outlets (ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX) have been offered invites to compete in a tournament against one another for Ultimate Bragging Rights.
