Headrick Is The Alternative For Wamp Supporters - And Response (2)

  • Tuesday, September 9, 2014

To all of you Westin Wamp supporters who have verbalized publicly your disappointment that your candidate didn’t unseat Chuck Fleischmann – there is an alternative.  I’ve read that 49.2 percent of voters did not vote for Fleischmann in the primary. They have derided him as part of the problem with the “do nothing” Congress who only wants to say no.

He has been accused of “fooling” the people again with his negative ads that were so dishonest and strident that they even received national attention.  He is proud of having shut down the government last year and not answering calls and emails from his constituents (like me) to talk about it.   He has been accused of having no ideas, just the vote of no to make sure that nothing gets done in Washington.

I have read a lot of comments in the paper from people saying they were tired of “business as usual” in Washington.  As a Democrat, I voted for Wamp because he presented lots of new ideas and I was personally offended when Fleischmann used the word “Democrat” as an insult to Wamp.  The U.S. is a democracy and we have more than one party.  The things that unite us should be stronger than the things that divide us.  I can’t believe the man representing our district considers the name of the party with whom I affiliate to be a way to insult an opponent.

Politics and religion represent deeply felt beliefs. You might disagree with them, but to insult someone by calling them a Democrat?  If he disagrees about religion, does Fleischmann call opponents Baptists or Catholics?

The alternative is Dr. Mary Headrick.  Forty-nine point two percent of you could vote for her in protest to the “business as usual” and the “do nothing” Congress.  She could be your vote if you find a vote for Fleischmann so hateful that you are considering not voting at all.  But, she could also be a candidate you could vote for deliberately because she represents a different direction for Congress and this district.  Instead of obstructing, she, like Westin Wamp, wants to get things done in Washington.  She wants all Tennesseans to be represented in Congress, not just Republicans, but she doesn’t consider Republican to be an insulting word.  Republicans and Democrats could unite behind her to remove Chuck Fleischmann from office and start a new era of cooperation, no matter who the party in power is.

Cindy Schultz Rudolph, please know that while many of the Weston Wamp supporters, me included, worked hard to get Weston elected, we still have our conservative principles and will vote for Chuck Fleischmann rather than Dr. Mary Headrick. To simplify this for you, we wanted a piece of pie rather than a slice of cake. Chopped liver is not an alternative.

I for one called Congressman Fleischmann “do nothing Chuck”. I hope that he took that to heart and will work hard this term to change that perspective I have had of him. However, if he does do nothing this term, it will be better than what I view as what Dr. Headrick will do. She will work hard to promote the misnomer of “the war on women” which is a blatant lie, done openly and without shame by liberals who are more interested in their convenience than giving life the babies. She will also fall right in line as an Obama minion and vote to spend us and future generations  into a state of oblivion so we too can become a third world country.

So, I say no thank you. While I may see Chuck as less than the perfect choice for Homecoming King, it’s my hope he will learn to be a better dancer and turn out to be a pretty good date. I believe he has the ability and will work harder this next term and I’m voting for Chuck Fleischmann.

I too will be voting for Mary Headrick. I am so tired of the same old rhetoric, partisan politics and stale talking points.

I do wish that those on the right would at least do a little research and they would find that in fact, the Republican party has spent the most money while in office, including and especially Saint Ronny, who still holds the record today, followed by HW and GW Bush.

We need representation for all of the people of the 3rd District, not just for the Republicans and the Tea Party.

I can assure you, Mary Headrick is no chopped liver...she is the real deal and has real world experience and knowledge to back that up.
