Jane Pauley
Award-winning journalist and bestselling author Jane Pauley will serve as the guest speaker at the AIM Center's Creativity and Courage in Mental Health benefit and 25th anniversary celebration on Thursday, May 7, at The Chattanoogan Ballroom.
A familiar face on morning, daytime and primetime television, and one of broadcasting’s most respected journalists, Jane Pauley joined CBS News Sunday Morning in 2014. Ms. Pauley began her network career as co-host of TODAY for 13 years, anchored Dateline NBC for more than a decade and hosted her own daytime program, The Jane Pauley Show.
A longtime advocate in children’s health and education, Ms. Pauley is also a highly-regarded spokesperson in mental health. At the age of 50, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In her bestselling 2004 memoir Skywriting: A Life Out of the Blue, Ms. Pauley wrote about living with mental illness and her willingness to speak out about it publicly despite her doctor’s concern that doing so would be detrimental to her career. For the past 14 years, Ms. Pauley has been committed to moving the narrative on mental illness away from stigma, with the goal of ‘normalizing’ how the public talks about mental health issues.
The event, chaired by Carla Donina and Jerry Mitchell, will include a reception and dinner before an interview presentation with Jane Pauley. Local author and television host Alison Lebovitz will join Ms. Pauley on-stage for a question and answer conversation about her award-winning career, her writing, and her 2001 mental health diagnosis.
Table sponsorships are available for the event, which is presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee Community Trust. Proceeds support the AIM Center’s mission of helping adults with mental illnesses achieve productive and meaningful lives.
