Kansas Brings Classics To Track 29 With Arc & Stones

The New Year brings more Chattanooga Live Music as Track 29 hosted Kansas with a young inspiring band Arc & Stones from Nashville.  Arc & Stones gave a flawless delivery of soulful alternative rock. Guitarists Dan Pellarin and Ben Cramer met in college in 2010 when both were music students.  It was the following year, after moving to New York, the duo began writing and recording in a small Brooklyn apartment.  Then adding Joe Doino, on drums, the move to Nashville came in 2014.  The banding of soulful alternate rock takes shape in their first EP of six songs titled “As You Were”.  The band is currently on tour with Classic rockers Kansas.

Kansas had the coolest vinyl LP record album covers in a rock n roll era filled with drugs, love, peace and war.  The covers were surrealistic.  Some covers illustrate art similar to Salvador Dali or Pablo Picasso. I think both artists of the early 1900s would have felt their influence as many bands of the 70’s used more eccentric album cover art. It was a marketing strategy.  Kansas was founded in 1973, (in Topeka, Kan.) when the Vietnam War was winding down fast and the huge New York Woodstock festival of 1969 was a growing distant memory. The best historical review of KANSAS may be viewed on the web at wikipedia.org or  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_(band)

The documentary film debuting March 16, “Miracles Out of Nowhere,”  illustrates how the original members, Phil Ehart, Dace Hope, Kerry Livgren, Robby Steinhardt, Steve Walsh and Rick Williams, steeply climbed out of America’s heartland and began a journey to mega stardom. Today, over 40 years later, some faces have changed and some remain the same.  The iconic Steve Walsh retired last year, with Ronnie Platt as lead vocals/keyboard replacing Walsh.  So many of their songs offered throughout the night were enjoyed by the seated Kansas fans .. People of South Wind, Point of Know Return, Play the Game Tonight, Song For America, The Wall, Reason To Be, Dust In The Wind, Opus Insert, Closet Chronicles, Hold On, What’s My Mind, Belexes, Portrait, Sparks of the Tempest, Fight Fire with Fire and the Encore with Carry On Wayward Son. The current band’s original members Rick Williams and Phil Ehart played with Billy Greer, Dave Ragsdale, Ronnie Platt and David Manion.

Follow Kansas on social media Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and iTunes.  The official website is www.kansasband.com  Kansas is a present-day Classic Rock/Progressive Rock band with staying strength to tour and mentor younger bands such as Arc & Stones.

It was an awesome night for Chattanooga Live Music as the New Year 2015 begins and more Live Music is on its way with the Road to Nightfall Music Series, Riverbend Festival, Track 29, Rhythm & Brews, Sugar’s Ribs, JJ’s Bohemia, The Camp House, Barking Legs, Chattanooga OnStage  and other venues in the area for local and national acts.
