NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The streak is over.
The Ensworth Tigers defeated second-ranked Hamilton Heights on Tuesday, 46-41, and snapped the Hawks’ 19-game winning streak.
Hamilton Heights (20-2) hadn’t lost since dropping a 72-62 decision to Providence Day School in the Charlotte Hoops Challenge on Nov. 28.
The 41 points is a season low for the Hawks, who next play against Brainerd on Thursday night at Chattanooga State at 7:30 p.m.
Strahinja Micakovic led the Hawks with 13 points.
Milos Andelic added nine points while 6-10 post Abdulhakim Ado had six points, four rebounds and one blocked shot before fouling out.
In the girls game, Hamilton Heights freshmen Elizabeth Balogun and Jazmine Massengill again paved the way for the Lady Hawks in a 43-26 victory.
Balogun scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Massengill added 14 points, including four 3-pointers.
Carson Pittman had 16 points for the Lady Tigers.
