Tyrik Dequan Owens
Tyrik Dequan Owens has been arrested after police said a cell phone sale arranged over Facebook turned into a holdup.
Owen, 18, of 709 Summit Ave., Apt. B, East Ridge, is charged with aggravated robbery.
In an incident Jan. 11, Jalen Priest said he was contacted via Facebook by an individual who went by "Piru Steady." He was asked if he wanted to buy an IPhone 6.
He agreed to pay $100 cash and also trade in his IPhone 5 for the newer model.
After several attempts to meet, he said he got together with "Piru Steady" and two other persons on Montview Drive. He said he walked up to a brown, older-model sedan. "Piru Steady" asked to see the cash and the phone for which he was trading.
Once the cash was shown, the driver (a white male), another passenger and "Piru Steady" all displayed handguns and pointed them at the victim.
They then demanded money and the phone, which were handed over. They then fled in the sedan.
A check of the Facebook account showed it belonged to Owens. The victim said a Facebook photo of Owens matched one of the robbers.
