Tony Bivens, larger project foreman, is operating track hoe laying sanitary sewer lines on Candy Ln.
The week of Jan. 12 the City of Ringgold Sewer Department started laying sanitary sewer lines on Candy Ln. to carry it to the eastern end of Pollard Road. Ringgold Council has awarded a contract with Talley Construction to build a 1,000 linear foot road that will connect Candy Ln. to Pollard Road. The City crews will need to install the sewer prior to Talley Construction’s earth moving project. Talley hopes to have the road completed by June or July.
Councilmember Earl Henderson said, “As the city continues to grow this will allow our citizens to be able to connect through different routes which in turn will help with the growth of vehicles within the city limits.
We must always remember that with growth you have to manage the traffic.”
"This is a great example of Ringgold's efforts to plan to overcome anticipated challenges before they even become a problem," said Councilmember Randall Franks. "A salute is owed to former Ringgold Council member G. Larry Black who got this ball rolling many years ago to extend Candy Ln. and provide a better route to Ringgold and interstate access around state DOT improvements on Alabama Hwy. expected to begin this year. Thanks are also owed to Catoosa County Commissioners for allowing the city improvements to connect to a county road."
“This will serve as a good alternate route for people, as the Alabama Hwy. (Hwy. 151) and I-75 road project is being done by the Department of Transportation,” said Councilmember Jake Haynes.
