An unannounced drug search was conducted on Tuesday at Walker Valley High School.
The search was coordinated by Deputy Angie Whittemore, School Resource Officer, with assistance from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and 10th Judicial Drug Task Force. Four canines were used in the search of the campus as well as vehicles in the parking lots.
“The administration of Walker Valley would like to thank these agencies for their cooperation and professionalism in this exercise,” said Danny Coggin, principal of Walker Valley High School. “We want to help insure the safety of each and every student and adult on our campus.”
The search resulted in a minimal amount of marijuana being discovered in a student’s vehicle. Tobacco products consisting of cigarettes and e-cigarettes were also discovered. No prescription drugs were found in the search.
This was a planned effort by Bradley County Schools and the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department.
“This search is a commitment by Bradley County Schools to provide a safe learning environment for all our students,” said Johnny McDaniel, director of Schools. “I appreciate the diligence of Principal Coggin and the assistant principals at Walker Valley High School who work hard each day to provide a quality education for our students in a safe environment.”
