Jimmy L. Waldrop M.D. FACS, a practitioner at the Plastic Surgery Group, Chattanooga’s first and largest plastic surgery practice, was initiated into the American College of Surgeons, the largest organization of surgeons in the world. He was among 1,640 Initiates from around the globe who became Fellows of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) during the Convocation ceremony held at the College’s 2014 annual Clinical Congress in San Francisco.
Dr. Waldrop received his medical doctorate from the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine, where he was also inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He practices at the Plastic Surgery Group where he performs cosmetic surgery of the breast, abdomen and face. In addition to cosmetic surgery, Dr. Waldrop performs complex reconstructive surgery, microsurgery and was the first surgeon in Chattanooga to perform migraine headache surgery.
Dr. Waldrop is an assistant professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga. He is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery.
Applicants for the American College of Surgeons Fellowship must be a graduate of an approved medical school; must have completed advanced training in one of the 14 surgical specialties recognized by the College; must possess certification by an American surgical specialty board and, must have been in practice for at least one year at the time of his or her application. By meeting the college’s stringent membership requirements, Fellows of the College have earned the distinguished right to use the designation of “FACS” (Fellow, American College of Surgeons) after their names.
