Lillian Farmer
Lillian Webb Godfrey Farmer, 76, died peacefully on January 29, 2015, surrounded by her loving family in a local hospital.
A Chattanooga native, she graduated from Howard High School in 1956 and gave over 25 years of dedicated service to State of Tennessee's Department of Employment Security. Lillian was a devoted member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church and served there in several positions. Her passion for bowling, which she shared with many family members, led Lillian to belong to several leagues in Chattanooga and to bowl in tournaments around the country. She also loved traveling, watching sports and crossword puzzles.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Godfrey and Daisy Moss McCoy, beloved husband of 37 years, Spellman Farmer, Jr., daughter Cathy Pounds and brothers, Thomas Godfrey, Jr. and James Godfrey.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Sonya Smith, Shirley Pounds, Tongeia Farmer and Jennifer Farmer; son, Mallory Farmer; grandchildren, JaMichael Smith, Kenneth Rodgers, Erika Smith, Erik Smith, Bryan Smith, Jasmine Marshall, Christopher Cousin and Courtney Cousin; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Olivia (Elder Dr. Robert) Smith, Jessica (James) Moore and Eleanor Coffin; sisters-in-law, Piacenti Jenell (Joe) Bynum, Evelyn Jeneal (Herbert) Johnson and Linda (Hiram) Hawkins; brother-in-law Bobby Eugene (Shirley) Farmer.
The family would like to thank her doctors and the caring staff of Avalon Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Feb. 6, at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Samuel Jackson officiating. Interment at 2 p.m. on Friday at National Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, Feb. 5, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
