FRANKLIN -- Notre Dame's wrestling team came to the Williamson County Agricultural Expo Center ready to fight Saturday morning and it took all of 32 minutes to eliminate Martin Luther King by a lopsided 70-12 final score.

It took just a little bit longer in the second round, but the Fighting Irish prevailed in that one as well with a 47-27 win over Greeneville, setting up a third match with Alcoa for third place in A-AA.

The third time wasn't the charm against Alcoa as the Tornados claimed third place with the 40-30 win.

It was the third time this season that Alcoa had won, including twice in the past two days.

Luke Mullin got the ball rolling in the day's first match with a 50-second pin at 120 and was a breeze from that point on as Ned Warwick, David Hodges, William Nelson, Packy Mullin and Noah Bankston all won by pins before the Royals won their first match.

Michael Quatrano recorded a second-period technical fall at 170 before Chris Hornsby and Grant Speer added pins for the Irish.

Tucker Gill put the final bit of icing on the cake with a technical fall at 113 after Patrick Johnson and Hunter Whiting had claimed forfeit wins.

The Fighting Irish were scheduled to meet Greeneville in the consolation semis at 11 a.m. (CST)
