Christapher Baumgartner, 24, was arrested on Tuesday in Bradley County on multiple charges.

Cleveland Police Department officers responded at noon on Tuesday to the Old American Knitting Factory on 6th street SE in reference to a burglary in progress. As officers were speaking to the victim, they heard a noise and noticed a large white male, wearing dark clothing, exit a window on the side of the building. The male suspect jumped a fence and began to run across Church Street. Officers Tyler McGuire and Brett Taylor chased the suspect on foot until he was apprehended and placed in custody.

When Officers McGuire, Taylor and Musselwhite, returned to the scene and investigated further, they found copper pipes that had been cut, tools and a large pair of bolt cutters. The owner estimated the total theft and damage expenses to be $30,000.

The suspect was identified as Christapher Baumgartner, 24, of Cleveland. Baumgartner was charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft over $10,000 and evading arrest.
