Cleveland Speedway
After a huge weekend of racing action that saw race teams from around the world invade the Chattanooga/Cleveland area, the 1/3-mile clay banked dirt track is taking a week off to re-cooperate before settling back into Saturday night dirt track action.
Drivers and fans are anxious to pick up where things left off in September as the Cleveland Speedway 2015 Track Championship Chase heads towards race # 2 of its scheduled "FINAL 4" events.
Next weekend (10/24) after the checkered flag waves another set of eliminations will whittle down the points chasers to six remaining contestants.
Looking back in September only one racer salvaged his season with a victory during Race #1 of the "FINAL 4", that being Late Model racer Kevin Gibson of Ringgold, by virtue of winning his first race of the season. That now puts former two-time former track champion Todd Morrow of East Ridge and North Georgia invader Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth on the bubble of elimination.
All drivers in all classes will be racing Saturday despite them being locked in the Chase for the Dirt Cup or not.
The last race of the season, the annual "Gobbler" in November is slated to champion all divisions, Saturday night, Nov. 21, with Nov. 7 being scheduled for Race #3 of the Chase. Budweiser: Tarver Distrubuting will be on-hand to pass out championship awards to the points champions as well as to the Gobbler/Jean & Joe Lee Johnson Memorial winners.
