Elois Freeman
A legacy of love, laughter, faith and family was left as Elois Marie Dunham Freeman, 87 departed from her earthly home and into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.
She answered to many names: Granny, Mom, G-Momma, Lodie and Gert. Most likely, if you were looking for her, you could find her not at her home, but on the go playing cards with friends, cheering on her grandchildren in athletic events, listening to her family sing or watching her granddaughter gracefully flowing across a stage in dance.
Her love for her Lord and Savior far outweighed her love for all else, including Braves Baseball. Although her love for all was great, she longed for the day she would be reunited with her true love, Jake, who preceded her in death 28 years ago. Her life will be missed, but her family, established in 1945, continuously growing and strong as ever, rests with the assurance she is walking in paradise with those who have gone on before her.
She was a member of the Church of God faith and was preceded in death by her husband, Jake, and her son, Rick.
She is survived by five children, Sylvia, Donnie (Darla), Cherie (Timothy), Janice and Melissa; eight grandchildren: Blake (Alisha), Brad (Lydia), Mindy (Scott), Taylor (Amanda), Garrett, Byron, Alaina, and Camden; and five great-grandchildren: Jackson, Claire, Leo, Josie, and Ian.
The family will receive friends from 2-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at The Ministry Center (North Chattanooga Church of God) with Bishop Jim Milligan officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the time of the funeral. Elois’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Dividing Ridge Church of God Cemetery.
