Broad Street Bike Lane Striping Scheduled For Next Week

  • Friday, October 2, 2015

During ongoing construction of the city’s first protected bike lanes on Broad Street between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Aquarium Way, the following information provides updates on progress and status of remaining work:

New concrete curbs on the east side of the street were poured on Oct.

1 and will remain off limits for proper concrete curing until the end of the afternoon on Oct 2.  Crews will remove the barrels at the end of the afternoon. Access to non-construction personnel is prohibited.

The contractor will begin striping on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 6.  This work is expected to take 3-4 days with all work done at night.  In order to complete the striping, one lane of traffic and the lane of parking will have to be blocked off for the striping.  It is anticipated that they will begin blocking off these lanes on Tuesday morning.

The final curb on the 800 block will be placed on Thursday, Oct. 8 during the day.

To better understand details of the project such as how and where to park and how to navigate the street, more information is included in the diagrams and description included on the following page.
