University of Tennessee at Chattanooga doubles tandem of senior Kelsey Coots and freshman Sydney Patton advanced to the finals of the #2 Draw at the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic today. The Mocs won nine matches overall on the first day of the tournament.
Coots and Patton opened with a 6-1 win over Murray State's Haily Morgan and Erin Patton. They followed that with a 6-2 victory against Western Kentucky.
Rain forced play indoors and caused some shift in scoring.
Doubles matches were played to six with no-ad scoring.
Senior Kayla Jones and sophomore Samantha Caswell scored a win in the top bracket, while junior Rachele Gazzola and freshman Delaney Edwards won in the back draw at No. 3. Senior Alison Storie and freshman Mckenzie Barco are in the third place match after winning their opening match at No. 3.
Jones led the Mocs in singles with a (7-6 (6), 6-2) win over UT-Martin's Hitomi Naito at No. 1. Storie, Gazzola and Patton also had singles wins today.
