Brecia A. Maston, 71, died on October 19, 2015 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and Tuskegee Institute where she earned her Bachelors of Science degree. She was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. 

Brecia retired from teaching from the Chattanooga/Hamilton County school systems. She was a member of New Monumental Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Catherine Benford.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Maston, Sr.; children, Fred (Rhonia) Maston, Jr., George (Lynn) Maston and Vonetta Maston; grandchildren, Daaron Maston, Taza Misha (Donya) Batts and Briana Maston; great-granddaughters, Amira Thompson and Caylee Batts; brothers, Howard (Brenda) Benford and Melvin (Deborah) Benford; a host of nieces and nephews; close friends, Faye Ison, Gwendolyn Gregory, Laretta Harrison.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at New Monumental Baptist Church with Pastor Rodrick Ware officiating. Interment will be on Friday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens- East. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.

Arrangements will be announced by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
