The Granfalloon Reopens Under New Management

  • Tuesday, October 20, 2015
The Granfalloon is the Southside's newest mixed use and multipurpose space.  Located at 400 East Main St., the space is available immediately for public and private event rentals and will reopen for regular breakfast and lunchtime business with Adelle’s Ice Cream Creperie in December.

The approximately 3,000 square foot, versatile space is also available for classroom-style courses, seminars, meetings and personal training in the smaller Chenille Room (a throwback to when the space was used as an old chenille factory) within the Granfalloon.
With on-site parking and a full catering kitchen, the Granfalloon is ready for parties or events. Users also have the opportunity to select any caterer of their choice.

Officials said, "A selection of rates and discounts for multiple use commitments is also available. With an early industrial rustic look, the space offers an appealing setting for parties, weddings, receptions, fundraisers and even concerts and public performances. Also, with far-reaching contacts in the entertainment industry, management at The Granfalloon can assist with your event entertainment needs, from local (and non-local) bands to almost any other type of entertainment that may be required."

The space will be functioning under the ownership of Carla Pritchard, as an arm of Chattanooga Presents, a company specializing in producing many of Chattanooga’s high profile events and community programs such as Nightfall, Pops on the River, 3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival and Ice on the Landing, among others.

Plans are to open Adelle’s Ice Cream and Creperie by the end of December. Inspired by Carla’s 12-year-old daughter, the Creperie will add some frozen treats and European-style sweet and savory breakfast and lunch choices to the Southside.

The Granfalloon will also be facilitated by new management, Tara Viland, a Chattanooga native who has worked in the service industry, special events and festival planning, along with local radio and print publications downtown over the course of a decade. Her most recent position with Chattanooga Presents was to serve as beverage manager for the Nightfall Concert Series in 2015.

"The Granfalloon is a culturally advanced space that offers a place of community interaction. The term Granfalloon was originally coined by author Kurt Vonnegut in his 1963 novel Cat’s Cradle," officials said.

Inquiries and information about The Granfalloon may be found  by calling Tara Viland at 423-309-3309 or emailing inquiries@granfalloonchatt.com.
