Small Fire At Best Buy In Hixson Caused By Electrical Malfunction

  • Wednesday, October 21, 2015

The Chattanooga Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 8 a.m. on Wednesday to a possible commercial fire at the Best Buy, at 5591 Highway 153.

Upon arrival, firefighters from Quint 19 completed an investigation of the store and found the remains of a small fire in the electronics section. Upon investigation, it was determined that an electrical outlet had apparently shorted, causing a small fire. Employees of the store utilized a dry powder fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire and then isolated the power to the outlet.

As a result of the fire being extinguished, the Best Buy will be closed for a few hours to clean the floors and the areas that were affected by the fire extinguisher dust. There was no damage to the building itself or to any of the contents in the building.

The Chattanooga Fire Department was assisted  by the Chattanooga Police Department.
